WATER CARRIER:

The Water Carrier was used for carrying and cooling water. The semi-porous container
allowed water to migrate to the exterior surface and evaporate. Two hanging lugs are shaped
like the hair whorls of the Hopi maiden. The ancient "humanized" butterfly motif is the symbol
for the presence of water. The ceramic form is that of the Sikyatki ceramics family. © 1995
