The grandmother is carrying a basket of corn. In a graceful manner she
bears the
load of corn. A blanket encircles her shoulders. Separately
cast pieces form
the load of corn and the corn stalk. The original was
created in clay with gold and
coral ears of corn, and a polished bronze and
turquoise patina corn stalk. In this
collaborative work the jewelry pieces
were created by Charles Suppleé,
an accomplished and talented Hopi jeweler. © 1995
